چکیده

Like any other technology, the Semantic Web cannot succeed if the applications using it do not serve the needs of the users. Annotea is a Semantic Web based project for which the inspiration came from users' collaboration problems in the Web. It examined what users did naturally and selected familiar metaphors for supporting better collaboration. The selected metaphors were a good match also for demonstrating the use of the Semantic Web technologies. Metadata was generated in the form of Annotea objects. It enhanced collaboration by adding flexibility to the applications and easy creation of different views. Furthermore, Annotea objects also let users to make the metadata available beyond its original purpose for many other Semantic Web applications. The first phase of Annotea introduced Web annotations and replies, that formed reply threads, and the second phase, bookmarks and topics. All of these concepts are commonly used familiar metaphors that are general enough to suit for various purposes. As a result, normal users can easily create RDF metadata that can be merged, queried and mixed with other metadata.

Semantic Authoring By Tagging with Annotea Social Bookmarks and Topics

Annotea is a framework that supports Semantic Web based collaboration and authoring via Annotea objects, such as social annotations, bookmarks, and topics. Social bookmarks and topics can be used for semantic authoring in many levels. They let ordinary users tag interesting Web documents with their own personal concepts (folksonomies). These concepts can be simple or form hierarchies, and they ...

Annotating Relationships Between Multiple Mixed-Media Digital Objects by Extending Annotea

Annotea provides an annotation protocol to support collaborative Semantic Web-based annotation of digital resources accessible through the Web. It provides a model whereby a user may attach supplementary information to a resource or part of a resource in the form of: either a simple textual comment; a hyperlink to another web page; a local file; or a semantic tag extracted from a formal ontolog...

An Executive Approach Based On the Production of Fuzzy Ontology Using the Semantic Web Rule Language Method (SWRL)

Today, the need to deal with ambiguous information in semantic web languages is increasing. Ontology is an important part of the W3C standards for the semantic web, used to define a conceptual standard vocabulary for the exchange of data between systems, the provision of reusable databases, and the facilitation of collaboration across multiple systems. However, classical ontology is not enough ...

A Social Network Ontology for Semantic Web Enabled Collaboration

Social networks have first been studied by social scientists to understand the patterns of relationships between people. More recently, social networking on the Internet capitalizes on the Web’s latent structure as a meta-network of social connections to boost computer-supported collaboration in conjunction with the use of Semantic Web metadata. Such metadata are generally machine-created and p...

The FLERSA Tool: Annotating Web Content

In this paper, FLERSA (Flexible Range Semantic Annotation) is presented as a user-centered annotation tool for Web content. The tool has been developed over a CMS and allows both manual and automatic semantic annotations. The interest for developing the FLERSA tool for annotating Web content arises out of the need to illustrate how to convert the Web Portal/CMS infrastructure into its semantic ...
